Rustic Boho Backyard Wedding in Denver, Colorado

Morgan & Connor

Van Eps Homestead

Parker, Colorado

06.22.19

As you pull up to the Van Eps home, out in the rolling fields of Colorado where dust clouds up behind your car as you fly over the hills, you know you’re headed somewhere good. Somewhere that whispers ‘welcome home’ in every corner + detail.

This is where Morgan + Connor began their adventure as husband + wife. The house slowly filled with family friends + relatives + all kinds of babies throughout the morning as everyone got ready.

One of the most beautiful aspect of this wedding was its homegrown feel; how every part of the setup + decor was personal to Morgan + Connor, and each detail in the house had so much character, as well as meaning.

Morgan begins their story,  “What’s special about it is that we met on Tinder, but things just kept aligning that continued moving it along. As soon as we matched, there was something sweeter about him than other guys I talked to on the app.”

Morgan was still opposed to going on a date with anyone from Tinder, but she noticed they had a mutual friend. She asked this friend about Connor, and she responded, “you have to go on a date with this guy, he’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met! I can’t believe he’s single.”

Morgan had three first looks:

one with her dad…

one with her big brother…

and one with her groom…

“Finally she convinced me to go out with him. So we met for brunch. And then we kept going out. And then I accidentally told him I loved him on our third date,” Morgan laughs.

“Based on past experiences, we knew we were very compatible,” Connor explains.

“To be in a relationship together was like ‘wait, this is what it’s supposed to be like!’” Morgan adds.

“Then we were at Slide Rock in Sedona, and I remember it hit me that she was the one I was going to marry.”

A turn of events in the weather moved the ceremony from the backyard to the barn, bringing all the perfectly cozy, rustic vibes to the celebration.

After the bourbon shots were taken, gifts exchanged, and first looks had, Morgan + Connor’s families huddled around them in prayer before the ceremony.

“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair–every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.”

–Proverbs 2:9-11, Morgan + Connor’s ceremony verse.

One of the opening lines made by the officiant during the ceremony was, “Connor–aren’t you glad you swiped right?” The room roared with laughter.

For their first act as husband + wife, they took communion together as Morgan’s sister + brother sang a worship song. Just after the pastor spoke about the grace of God washing over everyone for this occasion, a light rainfall began during the song + filled the room with a chilling peace.

Everyone headed inside the house for cocktail hour while the barn was flipped into magical tables capes + dinner was prepared.

Morgan’s father opened up the reception with an adorable hilarious toast to Morgan + Proverbs 3:5-6–

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

And for dinner–juicy wood-fired pizza from a food truck + croissant donuts. Need we say more?

A raging dance party closed out the night + everyone said their farewells as Morgan + Connor were sent off to the honeymoon –☾–
