Elegant January Wedding at Highlands Ranch Mansion

Stacey + Andrew

Highlands Ranch Mansion, Colorado

January 6, 2019

“Stacey + I met the first time three years ago through an online dating site, and I remember being very attracted to her so I asked her out. I drove up to meet her + I got out of my car, and realized I forgot my wallet–my first time meeting her. So I called her + told her about the wallet, and she was like, ‘Oh, I can pay for it!’”

Stacey chimed in– “My mom’s a feminist.”

“Our first date went well so on our second date, we had a picnic in the park. We were sitting on some tall grass on a blanket, and I remember seeing some creature running around under the blanket. It didn’t even bother Stacey, so I had to be the one to be like, ‘Ummm, can we move?’

I knew I liked her, but I was starting to feel a disconnect. She called me one night and said, ‘Look, I literally don’t have time for this.’ And I knew it was true. So we didn’t talk for a long time.”

Then, a year later, Chipotle was doing a giveaway where if you ate enough burritos, you could get free catering. Stacey happened to go to Chipotle while I was doing this, and remembered how much I loved Chipotle, and texted me out of the blue asking if I wanted to go to dinner. I drove up to meet her + I really enjoyed it. So for the next year, we would meet up every few months to just catch up as friends.

I had a feeling I was supposed to move to Denver, so I did, and Stacey was one of the only people I knew there. We just saw each other as we would always be friends.

As they became closer friends, Stacey’s walls came up at full force as she was fresh out of a break up + she attempted to keep Andrew at arm’s length with her sarcasm + crassness.

One day, Stacey complimented Andrew out of complete sincerity, but he started laughing, suspecting her usual sarcasm. Confused, she asked what was funny, and his response was, “well I’m just not used to you saying nice things to me.”

That hit her like a freight train + Stacey became kinder toward Andrew. Another time, he was telling her about a gift he got for a friend–a bracelet with a word engraved on it for that specific person. As he told her about the gift, Stacey looked up at him with tears in her eyes, and exclaimed, “You are the kindest person I’ve ever met.”

“My therapist had told me I was going to marry a person who was kind + unafraid of me, and as soon as I said that, I remembered her words. A week later, I asked Andrew if he was afraid of me, and he said no, so I filed that away too.”

“Around Christmas, we were hanging out watching Dunkirk, and at a really intense scene I dove under his arms.” Immediately regretting that move, she texted him the next day apologizing + saying she had feelings for him.

Andrew had been thinking of asking her out, so he revealed those feelings to her as well, asking, “So what do you say about a second first date?”

They had a few more great dates, and Andrew went off to work audio for the Olympics in Korea (casual). While he was away, he thought about if he wanted to break up with Stacey. He came back to her, saying “I thought about ending things while I was in Korea, but I just want you to know after considering that, I’m more committed to you than ever.”

So a few more months later, Andrew found himself seeking out the incredibly rare peach Sapphire Stacey wanted for her engagement ring. They were out watching a meteor shower one August night, and Andrew waited for the clock to strike midnight so it would be Stacey’s birthday. He got down on one knee, asking her to marry him.

Only Stacey + Andrew could make a day in the beginning of January feel as alive as a lush rainforest, brimming with the marrow of life, with the most full, true love one could imagine, and with hundreds of smitten people to witness.

Everyone gathered at the reception afterwards for a full-on feast of desserts in all forms + dancing.

They were sent off to begin their long-awaited future, knowing the depths of each other like their favorite memory, with so many more desserts to be eaten together ahead of them.
